SUMMARY:Developing Cell-Derived Nano-Ghost for Targeted Combined Therapy of
  Metastatic Cancer
DESCRIPTION:Metastasis is the major cause of treatment failure and mortalit
 y. The main goal of this study was to develop a natural targeted delivery
platform—termed Nano-Ghosts that will target metastatic cancer while del
ivering different therapeutics. The NGs are nano-vesicles reconstructed fr
om the cytoplasmic membranes of allogeneic human mesenchymal stem cells (M
SC). The NGs’ retention of MSC membrane proteins ensures their safety an
d allogenic tolerability and furnishes them with the ability to home in on
multiple tumors. I will first demonstrated that the NGs selectively accum
ulated in the lungs of metastases-bearing mice. Next\, I will present that
NG loaded with soluble TRAIL protein or a pDNA encoding the same protein
(pTRAIL) promoted apoptosis in metastatic cancer cells. Furthermore\, effi
cacy studies in a metastatic NSCLC model demonstrated over 70% tumor growt
 h inhibition of established metastases\n\n \n\nAbstract
