At the begining of this week, we had the privilege of hosting the Litan Award Ceremony, honoring the legacy of Prof. Aryeh Litan, a pioneer in research and teaching in the field of oils, whose contributions left a lasting impact on both our Faculty and Israel’s edible oils industry.
This year’s award recognized research excellence in the field of well-being, celebrating research that advances human health and promotes healthier lives.
The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Boaz Mizrahi, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, and opened with welcoming remarks by Prof. Ester Segal, Dean of the Faculty. We were also honored to hear from Prof. Anat Fischer, daughter of Prof. Litan and a faculty member in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technion.
We were delighted to welcome members of the Litan family, including Dr. Menny Fischer, Mrs. Liora Govrin, Dr. Or Fischer, and Inbal Fischer, whose presence made the occasion especially meaningful.
The audience was introduced to this year’s award recipients through short video presentations:
๐ Leehen Mashiah, PhD candidate in the laboratory of Prof. Uri Lesmes
๐ Valeria Weiss, PhD candidate in the laboratory of Prof. (Teaching) Avi Shpigelman
๐ Caroline Hali-Alperovitz, PhD candidate in the laboratory of Prof. Boaz Mizrahi.
Before the certificates were presented, guests enjoyed a musical performance by our third-year student, Daniel Kol.
Our sincere thanks to the Litan family for their continued commitment to fostering research excellence at our Faculty.
And to our outstanding award recipients – congratulations. Your research is helping advance human health and well-being, and each of you is truly deserving of this recognition.
Well done!
