2. What Master’s degree programs are offered?
• Master of Science in Biotechnology and Food Engineering
• Master of Science in Biotechnology and Food Science (Excellence track for graduates of a three-year degree)
• Master of Science (Technion degree for graduates of a three-year degree)
• Biotechnology and Food Engineering track without a thesis

3. Do graduates with a non-engineering bachelor’s degree need to complete supplementary courses?
Engineering tracks require a supplementary year.
The other two tracks require a reduced number of supplementary courses.
4. How do I find an advisor for a Master’s degree? How do I know what interests me?
You are invited to read on our website about the various research laboratories – https://biotech.technion.ac.il/en/research-labs-2/ and contact our faculty members.
In addition, our current graduate students will be happy to help and advise you.
If you are still unsure, Yael, the Graduate Studies Coordinator, will be happy to guide you:

5. Do students receive a scholarship and tuition exemption?
Yes! As a condition, students are required to be present in the lab 5 days a week.
6. Can an advanced degree be pursued while continuing to work?
Yes, the Technion allows employees of leading companies to complete an advanced degree without leaving their job. Requirements include a supportive workplace for conducting research and employer approval. Graduates in this track do not receive a scholarship.
7. Is there a direct track to a PhD?
Yes, there is a direct PhD track intended for outstanding Master’s students with a pathway to a doctorate.
8. Are there collaborations with external organizations during the degree?
Absolutely. All our faculty collaborate with academic institutions locally and worldwide and with commercial and governmental companies.
9. Where can graduates integrate into industry? Is there a difference between an engineering and non-engineering Master’s degree?
Our advanced degrees prepare students for a wide range of key roles in the biotech and food-tech industries.
In practice, there is no significant difference between an engineering and a non-engineering Master’s degree, and both allow continuation to a PhD without distinction.
10. Why pursue an advanced degree instead of going directly into industry?
Of course, it is possible to go directly into industry after a bachelor’s degree.
In fact, our students are highly sought after. However, if you aim for managerial or research roles, there is a clear advantage to graduates with advanced degrees.
