Luba is an outstanding researcher with extensive expertise in microbiology.
Over the years, she has led innovative, multidisciplinary research through a wide range of collaborations – from developing technologies for the rapid detection of bacteria in food and studying fermentation processes, to groundbreaking research on growing cyanobacteria as an alternative to cement.
Alongside her exceptional scientific expertise, initiative, and dedication, Luba is also the heart of the lab. She has mentored and trained generations of students, connected people and fields of knowledge, and is always ready to help and contribute – all with a wonderful smile that makes a real difference.
Her leadership, enthusiasm, outstanding interpersonal skills, and commitment to both research and the laboratory make her truly deserving of this recognition.
Prof. Kashi, head of the laboratory, adds: “Luba’s enthusiasm is contagious. She brings tremendous knowledge, leads by example, and does it all with humility and a constant willingness to help. I’ve discovered that saying ‘Luba is in my group’ at the Technion is quite a calling card. It’s simply a pleasure to come to the lab when you have people like Luba there.”
