2026 Faculty Safety Day

2026 Faculty Safety Day

07 June 2026

At our Faculty, safety is not just a requirement – it’s a way of life.
Our annual Faculty Safety Day, held last week, reinforced the importance of maintaining a strong culture of safety throughout our research and teaching labs and activities.
The day began with comprehensive inspections conducted by the Faculty’s safety officers across all research laboratories, ensuring that each lab met the required safety standards. Laboratories that successfully completed the inspection received the 2026 Faculty Safety Sticker – our Faculty’s mark of compliance and commitment to safety.

Later in the day, faculty members, administrative staff, and graduate students gathered for the main event. The session opened with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ester Segal, who emphasized a principle that guides all of us: research is conducted safely – or not at all.
Dr. Tzachi Reizel, the Faculty’s Academic Safety Officer, then reviewed safety incidents that had occurred in Faculty laboratories, highlighting the lessons learned and the measures taken to prevent similar events in the future.
The day concluded with our traditional Safety Quiz, won this year by MSc student Matan Atias from Prof. Segal’s lab.

A special thank to Dr. Naama Massad-Ivanir, Safety Officer from the Technion Safety Unit, for her dedicated support throughout the year, and to the Faculty Safety Team – Dr. Tzachi Reizel, Dr. Yahav Yosefzon, Asher Schatzman, and Dan Bohadana – for their ongoing commitment to keeping our Faculty safe every day.
