The next generation of catalysis researchers is building tomorrow’s innovation community.
Last month, the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology hosted the 1st Young Resnick Sustainability Center for Catalysis Conference (YRSCC), bringing together early-career researchers from across the Technion to foster collaboration around one of the most important scientific fields for a sustainable future.
The conference was initiated and organized by graduate students, under the leadership of Dr. Ori Green from the Faculty of Chemistry, as part of the Resnick Sustainability Center for Catalysis, directed by Prof. Ilan Marek. The multidisciplinary center brings together researchers from 11 Technion faculties to develop innovative catalytic technologies addressing global sustainability challenges, including green energy, air and water quality, and renewable technologies.
We are especially proud of our Faculty’s strong contribution to this initiative.
One of the conference organizers was Yara Zeibaq, a PhD candidate from the Nano-Bio Interfaces Laboratory of Assoc. Prof. Omer Yehezkeli, who co-led the organization of the conference alongside four PhD students from across the Technion. During the conference, she also chaired the Environmental Session, which featured presentations by Dr. Roy Cohen and Mor Shemesh, a PhD candidate from Assoc. Prof. Yehezkeli’s laboratory.
Our Faculty was also represented by Paz Shemesh, Adi Shalem, and Nitsan Yehishalom, PhD candidates from the laboratory of Prof. Ayelet Fishman, who presented their research in additional scientific sessions.
The poster session showcased the work of many young researchers, including all graduate students from Assoc. Prof. Yehezkeli’s laboratory: Keshet Yelin, Noy winetraub, Simona Ronen, Nir Avivi Robaz, and Yihan Lin.
Our Faculty also contributed to the judging panel, represented by Dr. Sarah Goldenberg (Assoc. Prof. Roee Amit’s laboratory), Dr. Racheli Levy (Assoc. Prof. Avi Shpigelman’s laboratory), and Dr. Matan Meirovich.
Congratulations to Yara and to all the researchers who helped establish this inspiring scientific community. It is exciting to see our students not only conducting outstanding research, but also building the collaborations and interdisciplinary networks that will drive the next generation of scientific innovation.
