Graham Model – Technion Selects Dr. Sofi Graham to Promote Women’s Involvement in Science

Sofi Graham, a recent Ph.D. graduate, from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering in a dual-track shared by the Technion and Leibniz University, is developing innovative technology for rapid testing of disease markers. Her research focuses on the development of biological sensors based on porous silicon. “The idea is that we can take a sample from a patient, such as blood or urine, test it directly on the sensor and detect the presence of disease markers, quite similar to a pregnancy test. The base of the sensor is a porous silicone “Very unique. Its unique optical properties make it possible to detect in real-time the binding of molecules to its surface by monitoring changes in the reflection pattern.”
